🏥 Position Overview
Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the LPN Medical Records Nurse is responsible for the preparation, maintenance, auditing, and completion of resident medical records from admission through discharge.
This role ensures documentation accuracy, regulatory compliance, and proper record management throughout the resident stay.
🚀 Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain medical records for new admissions
- Enter resident information into the electronic medical record system
- Ensure all required documentation is complete and compliant
- Review MARs and TARs for accuracy and transcription
- Enter physician orders into the system as needed
- Perform monthly chart audits to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Maintain and organize filing systems for active and discharged records
- Compile and close records at discharge
- Ensure physician signatures and required documentation are completed timely
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in good standing
- Experience in long-term care preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and physician orders
- Excellent organizational and filing skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working with electronic medical records (EMR)
- Detail-oriented with strong accuracy and follow-through
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
