What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at NGP Management?
NGP Management is a Dunkin' franchisee and real estate developer with over 100 stores and properties across Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. We are currently seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to join our office team located in North Reading. This is an on-site position with no possibility of working remotely. The ideal candidate will be a big picture thinker who can effectively lead and support their team, encourage collaboration, and stay flexible and detail-oriented as business needs evolve.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads the monthly close processes.
- Directs the preparation of all monthly financial reports and schedules, including income statements, balance sheets, variance reports, and general ledger account reconciliations.
- Manages the personnel, as well as the policies and procedures, of the accounting departments.
- Meets regularly with department heads to provide consultative support.
- Serves as key liaison with outside auditors.
- Analyzes reports, provides projections of revenue and expense, and presents the variances against budgeted expense and prior year totals.
- Ensures records and systems are maintained in accordance with GAAP standards.
- Oversees the cash management function of the entire organization.
- Completes all financial compliance requirements (investors, partners, lenders, and internal management).
- Other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- 10 years advanced understanding of accounting and finance concepts with at least 5 years supervisory experience.
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting and/or finance – a CPA license is preferred.
- Experience with SAP preferred but not required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (advanced Excel skills a must).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Analytical with excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative spirit.
- Ability to work under pressure with time sensitive deadlines.
- Self-motivated in a fast-paced environment.
