Nexus Health Systems is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow to join our interdisciplinary behavioral health team on a PRN basis. This position serves as the primary weekend caregiver in the behavioral health program for adolescents and children, providing high-quality psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment in accordance with the highest standards of care.

Nexus Health Systems is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow to join our interdisciplinary behavioral health team on a PRN basis. This position serves as the primary weekend caregiver in the behavioral health program for adolescents and children, providing high-quality psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment in accordance with the highest standards of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical care, documentation, and basic medical assessment for each assigned patient during weekend coverage.
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop treatment plans.
- Staff all cases verbally with the Medical Director at the end of the weekend.
- Foster a culture of compassion, dignity, and respect in all patient and family interactions.
- Address and resolve patient or family concerns in real time with professionalism and empathy.
- Advocate for patient needs and ensure timely access to specialty and supportive services.
- Support and guide staff in delivering culturally competent, patient-centered care.
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, healthcare regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Report and assist in investigating incidents or patient complaints as part of the risk management process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- Graduate from an accredited school of medicine
- Current Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow in an accredited fellowship program (second-year fellow preferred)
- Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice medicine in the State of Texas
- Current BLS certification
- Full and unrestricted DEA certification (or eligibility)
- Board eligible/board certified in Psychiatry preferred
