You’ll assess and treat patients to improve mobility, coordination, and motor skills while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of therapists, nurses, and physicians. What You’ll Do
- Provide individualized physical therapy services to children and adolescents with ASD, IDD, or neurodevelopmental challenges.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of movement, posture, gait, balance, and coordination using standardized tools.
- Develop and implement custom treatment plans that promote motor learning, mobility, and functional independence.
- Use therapeutic modalities such as aquatic therapy, rhythmic auditory stimulation, and task-specific training.
- Integrate assistive technology and adaptive equipment (gait trainers, orthotics, standers) to enhance patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with occupational therapy, speech therapy, behavioral health, and nursing teams for holistic care.
- Engage families in goal setting, therapy participation, and home programs to ensure continued success.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR).
- Participate in team meetings, clinical rounds, and quality improvement initiatives.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program (required)
- Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience required
- Pediatric or neurologic physical therapy experience preferred
- Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder, IDD, or neurodevelopmental populations strongly desired
- Expertise in motor learning, sensory integration, and neurodevelopmental techniques
- Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Proficiency with EHR documentation and adaptive equipment use
- Empathy, patience, and adaptability when working with children and families
- Current Texas Physical Therapist (PT) License – required
- CPR / BLS Certification – required
- De-escalation Training – required within 30 days of hire
