The Pediatrician will play an essential role in coordinating patient care, managing acute and chronic conditions, and supporting each patient’s overall health, development, and recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations and provide diagnosis and treatment for pediatric patients.
- Manage acute and chronic medical conditions, including medication management and follow-up care.
- Serve as the attending physician for patient admissions, discharges, and ongoing coordination of care.
- Participate in daily rounds, care conferences, and interdisciplinary treatment-team meetings.
- Collaborate with nursing, behavioral health, rehabilitation therapy, and case management teams to develop individualized plans of care.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans based on clinical needs and response to care.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families, and caregivers regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress.
- Complete timely, thorough, and accurate clinical documentation within the electronic health record.
- Provide education and clinical guidance to patients, families, caregivers, and hospital staff as appropriate.
- Participate in quality improvement, infection prevention, and patient safety initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and evidence-based clinical practices.
Education
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Previous pediatric clinical experience preferred.
- Inpatient, pediatric rehabilitation, behavioral health, or complex-care experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience caring for children and adolescents with complex medical, developmental, neurodevelopmental, or behavioral needs is highly desirable.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics.
- Active and unrestricted medical license in the State of Texas or eligibility to obtain Texas licensure.
- Current American Heart Association BLS and PALS certifications.
- Must meet all credentialing and medical staff requirements.
- Strong clinical judgment and medical decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and care-coordination skills.
- Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered, and family-focused care.
- Ability to manage the medical needs of patients with complex clinical and behavioral presentations.
