Schedule: PRN - Day or Night Shift Available
PRN Requirement: Must work at least 6 total shifts per month, including 2 shifts on a Saturday and/or Sunday.

Position Summary
The Monitor Technician works under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager, House Supervisor, and Director of Nursing to observe cardiac and respiratory rhythms, identify monitor changes, and communicate urgent updates to nursing staff. This role also supports the nursing unit with clerical and communication duties while helping maintain safe and efficient unit operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe patients’ cardiac and respiratory rhythms while they are on monitors.
- Recognize emergency rhythms, baseline changes, and alarm changes, and report them promptly to the primary nurse.
- Maintain communication with RNs and LVNs regarding rhythm activity and monitor status throughout the shift.
- Apply monitor leads and electrodes and use bedside monitors and portable transmitters appropriately.
- Admit and discharge patients from the monitoring system and set patient-specific alarm parameters correctly.
- Complete shift reports and communicate patient information clearly to the oncoming team.
- Answer incoming calls and assist visitors while maintaining monitoring responsibilities as the top priority.
- Report unusual circumstances or changes in patient condition immediately to the charge nurse.
- Relay critical lab values and other urgent updates to nursing staff as needed.
- Support unit operations by maintaining an organized work area and completing other assigned duties.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Current telemetry certification or equivalent required.
AHA BLS/CPR certification required.
Hospital or rehabilitation experience preferred.
Prior telemetry technician experience preferred.
Strong communication, critical thinking, attention to detail, and teamwork skills required.
