What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Payable Staff Accountant position at Nexus Health Systems Ltd?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant & AP performs detailed accounting functions for the company relating to the recording of transactions and production of financial statements and performance metrics.
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs all aspects of the Accounts Payable function at the Corporate Level for multiple facilities.
2. Verify accuracy of customer invoices and the coding that comes from the facilities.
3. Proper coding and classification of invoices based on company policies & accounting principles.
4. Develop journal entries and related support for input into the company’s general ledger.
5. Work closely with other accounting team members to facilitate efficient data flow and clean accounting information.
6. Complete prepared by client workpapers and schedules.
7. Ensures that all company costs are reviewed and action taken as needed. i.e., Meetings with materials managers to discuss miscoding and capital.
8. Maintain and reconcile balance sheets; analyze and report variances.
9. Make payment decisions with the Controller based on cash flow within the company.
10. Maintains the company’s system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions.
11. Determines allocations of companywide expenses.
12. Gather and analyze financial documentation to provide data on bank.
13. Maintain the new vendor process and ensure adequate tracking of 1099 employees so they can prepare and send out 1099s annually.
14. Works closely with other accounting team members to facilitate efficient data flow and clean accounting information.
15. Maintain records for large capital projects and oversee the payments of those capital projects have not gone over budget.
16. Understands and has enough accounting knowledge for prepaid expenses, capital.
17. The ability to work independently on detailed oriented tasks.
18. Perform various ad hoc duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
• BA/BS Degree in Accounting or related field or comparable work experience
EXPERIENCE:
• At least (2) years’ experience in accounts payable or accounting, preferably in healthcare industry
