Fire Sprinkler Designer & Drafter

Position Overview:The Fire Sprinkler System Designer & Drafter will be responsible for designing, drafting, and coordinating fire sprinkler systems that meet NFPA standards, local codes, and client specifications. This position plays a vital role in ensuring our projects are delivered with technical accuracy, efficiency, and quality. Key Responsibilities:Develop detailed sprinkler system layout drawings, hydraulic calculations, and material lists.Prepare and revise CAD or Revit drawings from architectural and structural plans.Ensure all designs comply with NFPA, state, and local fire protection codes.Perform hydraulic calculations and assemble submittal packages for review and approval.Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and project managers throughout the design and installation process.Provide technical support to field personnel during construction.Maintain accurate records and produce as-built drawings upon project completion. Qualifications:Required:2 years of experience in fire sprinkler system design and drafting.Proficiency with AutoCAD (and/or Revit).Proficiency with word, excel, outlook and Bluebeam Revu.Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.Ability to survey, measure and layout existing systems.Preferred:Strong working knowledge of NFPA 13, 14, 20, 24 and 25 standards.NICET Level I or higher certification in Water-Based Systems Layout.Experience with SprinkCAD or similar fire protection design software.Familiarity with BIM coordination and 3D modeling processes.Company DescriptionNexus Engineering is a trusted leader in mechanical, plumbing & fire protection design and consulting, delivering innovative and code-compliant solutions across commercial, residential, and industrial projects throughout California.
