Test Engineer
Confidential Client – Electronics Manufacturing – Greater Chicago Area
Compensation: $100,000-$125,000 (depending on experience)
Our client, an established leader in advanced electronics manufacturing, is seeking a Test Engineer to design, develop, and optimize automated test systems that support new product introductions and ongoing production. This role combines deep technical expertise with leadership in process improvement and offers the opportunity to shape scalable test solutions in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and deployment of automated test equipment for both new and legacy products.
- Develop and maintain automation software (LabVIEW required, TestStand and/or other platforms a plus) to control test instrumentation and ensure alignment with product requirements.
- Partner with production, operations, and quality teams to integrate test systems seamlessly into manufacturing workflows.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including yield enhancement, process optimization, and reliability efforts.
- Analyze test and measurement data to guide design decisions and validate system performance.
- Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to expand test coverage.
- Produce clear technical documentation, test concepts, and operator guidelines.
Desired Skills & Attributes
- Hands-on experience with automated test development in a high-volume production environment.
- Strong proficiency in LabVIEW/TestStand and familiarity with structured programming (C#, Python, or similar).
- Understanding of electronics manufacturing processes, including PCB assembly and system-level testing.
- Exposure to communication protocols (CAN, LIN, or similar) and/or RF test methods is a plus.
- Knowledge of quality tools such as Six Sigma, SPC, and root cause analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and deliver results under tight timelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or related Engineering field.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in manufacturing test engineering.
- Proven ability to design, implement, and scale automated test solutions in a production setting.
