Director of Engineering – Richardson, TX
We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead our cellular engineering organization, overseeing Mobile Core, RAN, IMS, 4G/LTE, 5G NSA/SA, roaming, SIM/eSIM, and wholesale solutions. This senior leadership role will be responsible for the strategy, deployment, operations, and lifecycle management of wireless network infrastructure and customer solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a geographically dispersed engineering team.
- Own LTE Core, IMS, 5G Core, roaming, SIM/eSIM, and RAN platforms.
- Drive network architecture, capacity planning, upgrades, and vendor management.
- Provide technical leadership for customer deployments, MVNO, IoT, Private Wireless Network, and NTN solutions.
- Develop HLDs, LLDs, test plans, and operational documentation.
- Ensure successful transition of projects to the NOC and provide Tier-2 escalation support.
- Lead major network incidents and escalations, drive root cause analysis (RCA), reduce MTTR, and partner closely with Operations/NOC teams to improve service reliability and operational performance.
- Establish engineering best practices, automation strategies, monitoring, and operational excellence.
- Build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams.
Required Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 8–12 years of experience designing, deploying, and managing mobile core networks for wireless carriers, MNOs, or MVNOs.
- Strong expertise in LTE Core, IMS (VoLTE/VoNR), 5G Core, roaming, SIM/eSIM, and RAN technologies.
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering organizations and cross-functional teams.
- Experience supporting roaming, IoT, Private Wireless Networks, and NTN solutions.
- Strong understanding of incident management, operational support, RCA processes, and network performance management.
- Excellent communication, vendor management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
