Data Center Field Installation Technician (L2) – Rapid Response Team
Location: Ashburn, VA
Duration: 6–12 Month Contract (Strong Potential for Extension or Full-Time Conversion)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

We are seeking a Data Center Field Installation Technician (L2) to support large-scale hyperscale data center operations as part of a rapid response deployment team. This position will be responsible for troubleshooting tickets, supporting critical infrastructure deployments, leading junior technicians, and traveling to multiple data center locations across the U.S. as needed.
This is a hands-on technical role focused on rack and stack deployments, fiber troubleshooting/testing, structured cabling, liquid cooling integration, and hardware validation within enterprise and hyperscale data center environments.
Candidates must have strong troubleshooting experience, the ability to work independently in fast-paced environments, and prior experience supporting live data center operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform rack build, rack & stack, and hardware deployment activities
- Troubleshoot and resolve fiber connectivity and cabling issues
- Lead and support other data center technicians during deployments and incident response activities
- Execute structured cabling installations for both fiber and copper infrastructure
- Utilize Fluke testers and related tools for fiber testing and validation
- Install, validate, and troubleshoot server, storage, and networking hardware
- Interpret rack elevations, cabling schematics, technical drawings, and MOPs
- Support power distribution installations including PDUs and redundant power feeds
- Assist with advanced cooling deployments including direct-to-chip liquid cooling systems
- Perform system bring-up activities including hardware validation and connectivity checks
- Conduct post-installation QA audits for cabling, labeling, airflow, and hardware integrity
- Escalate complex technical issues appropriately while maintaining SLA expectations
- Maintain detailed deployment documentation and installation updates
- Travel to various data center sites as part of the rapid response support team
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on data center experience
- Experience supporting hyperscale or enterprise data center environments
- Strong troubleshooting experience with fiber cabling and connectivity
- Hands-on experience with fiber testing tools including Fluke testers
- Knowledge of rack & stack procedures and structured cabling best practices
- Experience with both copper and fiber installations
- Understanding of server, storage, and network hardware deployments
- Familiarity with liquid cooling technologies and airflow management
- Ability to interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and installation documentation
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently while leading and mentoring junior technicians
- Comfortable with travel and working in fast-paced operational environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting rapid response or deployment escalation teams
- Familiarity with BIOS/firmware validation and hardware bring-up
- Experience working within live production data center environments
- Knowledge of redundancy concepts, power distribution, and cooling optimization
- Prior experience supporting large hyperscale data center operators

- Ability to lift and move equipment in data center environments
- Comfortable working in physically demanding environments for extended periods
- Ability to safely work around powered equipment, cabling infrastructure, and liquid cooling systems
