Data Center Field Installations Technician (L2)
This is more than a standard data center technician role — it’s a chance to get involved in one of the most exciting AI infrastructure programs in the industry right now. NTT is building out a proof-of-concept environment for Google AI deployments, and the team is looking for technicians who can operate independently, troubleshoot in real time, and help drive successful deployments in high-visibility environments. Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in data center environments or hands-on infrastructure deployments
- Strong rack & stack experience
- Hands-on structured cabling experience (fiber copper)
- Fiber troubleshooting and testing experience
- Experience using fiber testing tools (Fluke preferred)
- Knowledge of server, storage, and network hardware installations
- Experience with power distribution units (PDUs) and redundant power concepts
- Ability to read rack elevations, schematics, and installation documentation
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience supporting deployment validation and QA activities
- Comfortable working onsite in physically demanding environments
- Ability to work independently and support junior technicians
- Experience in hyperscale or enterprise data centers
- Exposure to AI infrastructure deployments
- Knowledge of direct-to-chip (D2C) liquid cooling systems
- Experience with DX airflow optimization and cooling methodologies
- Familiarity with BIOS validation, firmware checks, and basic OS imaging
- Understanding of automated deployment tools or PXE imaging
- Previous experience supporting Google, NTT, Lumen, or similar enterprise deployments
- Lead rack build and deployment activities based on engineering documentation
- Perform rack & stack activities for servers, storage, and network hardware
- Execute and validate fiber and copper cabling installations
- Troubleshoot and resolve fiber connectivity issues
- Perform basic cable testing and validation
- Support power installations and verify redundant feed configurations
- Install and validate advanced cooling systems including D2C liquid cooling
- Execute initial system bring-up activities and hardware checks
- Validate installations against project standards and QA checklists
- Support and guide L1 technicians during deployments
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, and project teams
- Maintain installation documentation and report deployment progress
