Construction Manager (Mission-Critical Data Centers)
Location: Chicago IL- Project-Based / On-Site (Travel Required)
Direct Hire role
No C2C candidates, only W2 candidates
This role serves as the owner's eyes and ears on-site, ensuring construction progress, quality, budget, schedule, and risk management align with project objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong construction management background with experience supporting hyperscale or colocation data center projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent the owner's interests throughout the construction lifecycle
- Conduct site walks to evaluate progress, quality, safety, and schedule adherence
- Review contractor pay applications and validate installed work
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
- Track budgets, schedules, risks, and project milestones
- Coordinate with general contractors, design teams, commissioning teams, and stakeholders
- Prepare executive-level project reports and recommendations
- Support project turnover, closeout, and commissioning activities
Required Experience:
- 7 years of construction management experience
- Data center, mission-critical, or large-scale infrastructure project experience
- Strong understanding of MEP systems (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing)
- Experience reviewing contractor invoices, schedules, and change orders
- Proficiency with Procore and construction management tools
- Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred:
- Owner's Representative experience
- Hyperscale or colocation data center construction experience
- PMP, CCM, or related certifications
- Familiarity with commissioning processes, Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and Uptime Institute standards
