We are seeking an experienced 5G IODT Test Engineer to support interoperability testing and validation activities with leading chipset vendors including Qualcomm, Apple, and MediaTek. This role focuses on lab-based device chipset validation, protocol analysis, and low-level debugging for 4G/5G RAN products.
What You'll Do
- Perform interoperability (IODT) testing with chipset vendors on new 4G/5G features and products
- Analyze and troubleshoot protocol logs to identify device and network issues
- Develop and execute system test cases for feature validation and performance analysis
- Work closely with chipset partners and internal engineering teams on product validation
- Create test reports and present findings to stakeholders
- Support call processing, air interface validation, and end-to-end performance testing
Must-Have Qualifications
- 8 years of experience in 4G/5G wireless testing, validation, or protocol engineering
- Strong understanding of 3GPP standards
- Deep knowledge of PHY, MAC, RLC, RRC, and PDCP layers
- Hands-on experience with QXDM/QCAT/QXTM protocol log analysis and debugging
- Experience with device chipset testing and interoperability validation
- Strong troubleshooting skills for low-level protocol and device issues
- Experience with 4G/5G air interface, call processing, and RAN architecture
Preferred Experience
- Qualcomm, Apple, or MediaTek chipset validation
- IODT testing in lab environments
- EMS systems exposure
- XCAL, Wireshark, Channel Emulator, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator tools
- Understanding of 3GPP Core and RAN networks

- Site Integration/Commissioning Engineers
- Candidates focused primarily on RF tuning without protocol debugging expertise
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred
- Equivalent hands-on experience in protocol debugging and chipset testing will be considered
Travel
- Primarily lab-based in Plano, TX
- Limited travel (occasional trips to partner labs in San Diego)
