Next2New Automotive Sales & Service is excited to announce a new location featuring air conditioning for improved working conditions year-round. We are a well-established repair shop and auto dealership with over 25 years in business, located on West 12th Street & Marion Road in Sioux Falls.

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Lead Automotive Technician (Gas & Diesel) to join our growing service team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced technician who takes pride in high-quality diagnostics, repairs, and leadership in a full-service shop environment.

Position Overview

The Lead Automotive Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of gas and diesel vehicles while ensuring all work meets dealership and manufacturer standards. This role also serves as a technical resource within the shop, helping guide less experienced technicians and supporting overall shop efficiency.

Compensation & Benefits

• $28.00 – $42.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications
• IRA retirement plan with 3% company match
• Flexible scheduling

• Vacation after one year of employment
• Full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week
• Overtime opportunities available

Work Schedule

• Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Saturday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• No overnight shifts

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate diagnostics and repair of gas and diesel vehicles
• Complete work orders efficiently and in accordance with dealership standards
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and determine necessary repairs
• Conduct road tests when required to verify repairs
• Identify additional safety or service needs during inspections
• Communicate effectively with service advisors regarding repair timelines
• Maintain proper handling, tagging, and storage of parts, including warranty work
• Keep customer vehicles clean and protected during service
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Ensure proper use and accountability of tools and shop equipment
• Follow all safety policies and immediately report incidents
• Support and mentor other technicians as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a full-service automotive repair environment preferred
• Strong experience with both gas and diesel engines
• Engine overhaul and advanced diagnostic experience preferred
• Must own a complete set of professional tools
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and team-focused attitude
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
