Job Overview
Next Wave Academy is seeking a compassionate and skilled Academic Interventionist / Learning Support Specialist to provide targeted academic support for students in grades 6–10. This role supports students through Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions, small-group instruction, and individualized learning support in a trauma-informed, relationship-driven school environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Tier 2 and Tier 3 academic interventions
- Provide small-group and one-on-one instruction in reading, writing, math, and executive functioning
- Support students with learning differences, academic gaps, IEPs, and 504 plans
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to align intervention strategies with classroom instruction
- Monitor student progress using data-driven instruction and adjust interventions as needed
- Maintain documentation for intervention plans, progress monitoring, and student growth
- Build strong, consistent relationships with students using a trauma-informed, student-centered approach
- Contribute to a positive school culture focused on accountability, growth, and confidence-building
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field
- Experience with academic intervention, tutoring, learning support, or special education
- Experience working with middle school and/or high school students
- Familiarity with RTI, MTSS, Tiered Instruction, and differentiated instruction
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, team-oriented school
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $24.50 - $29.50 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
