What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substance Use Recovery Peer Support position at Next Life Recovery Center Ohio?
Pay: $20.00/hr
Time: Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) 9am to 9pm
No health insurance benefits. First 3 months probationary period then PTO starts.
The Peer Recovery Supporter will provide essential support to residents of recovery
housing by offering empathetic guidance, emotional support, and practical assistance
based on personal experience with recovery. This role is crucial in fostering a supportive
environment that promotes individual recovery journeys and enhances overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with residents individually to provide empathetic listening, encouragement, and practical advice based on personal recovery experience.
- Offer support in setting and achieving personal recovery goals, including creating action plans and identifying resources.
- Provide immediate support and crisis intervention to residents experiencing challenges or distress.
- Assist residents in accessing community resources and services, such as healthcare, employment, and educational opportunities.
- Provide guidance on how to utilize resources effectively and follow up on progress as needed.
- Encourage and motivate residents through positive reinforcement and sharing personal recovery experiences.
- Help residents build self-efficacy and resilience by highlighting strengths and celebrating milestones.
- Write Peer Support Notes in EMR system.
- Report any concerns or incidents to the Client Lead as per organizational protocols.
Qualifications:
- Lived experience with recovery from substance use or mental health challenges, demonstrating a sustained period of stability and personal growth.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to provide compassionate and effective support.
- Must have Peer Recovery Certificate valid in Ohio
