Job Description
We are seeking an energetic, motivating, and reliable Adult Water Aerobics Instructor to join our team! The ideal candidate enjoys working with older adults and is passionate about promoting health, mobility, balance, and overall wellness through aquatic exercise in a safe and encouraging environment.
Our instructors lead engaging, low-impact water aerobics classes designed to improve strength, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, and confidence while fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere for participants of varying fitness levels and physical abilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead safe and engaging water aerobics classes for older adults.
- Develop and modify aquatic exercise routines to accommodate varying fitness levels, mobility, and medical considerations.
- Promote proper exercise technique, balance, flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular endurance.
- Monitor participants throughout class and provide modifications or assistance as needed.
- Maintain a safe aquatic environment by following all facility safety policies and procedures.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and activate emergency procedures when necessary.
- Set up, organize, and sanitize aquatic exercise equipment before and after classes.
Qualifications
Required
- CPR Certification
- AED Certification
- First Aid Certification
- Lifeguard Certification
- Previous experience teaching group fitness or aquatic exercise classes
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
- Ability to work mornings, evenings, or weekends as class schedules require
Preferred
- Water Aerobics Instructor Certification (AEA or equivalent)
- Knowledge of exercise modifications for seniors and individuals with physical limitations
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move around the pool area for extended periods.
- Ability to enter, exit, and move safely in the pool repeatedly throughout shifts.
- Ability to demonstrate aquatic exercises while maintaining participant safety.
- Ability to lift, carry, and organize aquatic exercise equipment.
- Ability to provide assistance to participants entering and exiting the pool when appropriate.
