Quality Engineer II | Salt Lake City, UT
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Quality Engineer II to join a growing medical device manufacturing organization. This Quality Engineer opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys complaint investigation, root cause analysis, product quality improvement, and cross-functional collaboration within an FDA-regulated environment. As part of the Quality Assurance and Quality Engineering team, you will investigate customer complaints, identify product quality trends, support CAPA activities, and help ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements while improving customer satisfaction and product reliability.
Responsibilities
• Investigate customer complaints, product quality concerns, and medical device performance issues.
• Conduct root cause analysis and document findings in detailed technical investigation reports.
• Serve as a technical resource for product design, manufacturing processes, device failure modes, and product performance.
• Partner with Quality Assurance, Engineering, Operations, and Manufacturing teams to resolve product quality and process-related issues.
• Support CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Communicate directly with customers and field representatives regarding complaint investigations and product concerns.
• Analyze complaint data, quality metrics, and product performance trends to identify recurring issues and opportunities for quality improvement.
• Perform standardized testing, inspections, and functional evaluations of returned medical devices.
• Assist in training team members on quality procedures, technical documentation, laboratory techniques, and regulatory requirements.
• Support FDA compliance efforts and adherence to established Quality Management System standards.
• Participate in special projects focused on manufacturing quality, product reliability, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related STEM field.
• 2-4 years of engineering, quality engineering, quality assurance, or regulated manufacturing experience.
• Experience in medical device manufacturing, healthcare, life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or other FDA-regulated industries preferred.
• Strong root cause analysis, troubleshooting, investigation, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working within FDA-regulated environments and Quality Management Systems (QMS) preferred.
• Knowledge of CAPA processes, validation, verification, regulatory compliance, and technical documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and data analysis tools.
• Excellent written, verbal, and technical communication skills.
• CQE (Certified Quality Engineer), CRE (Certified Reliability Engineer), or similar quality certifications are a plus.
• Ability to safely work with returned medical devices in a controlled laboratory or manufacturing environment.
Pay
$72,800 - $82,600 annually

Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
