Mechanical Designer | Ogden, UT
Nexeo is hiring a Mechanical Designer in Ogden, Utah to join the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) team supporting a major defense infrastructure program. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the design of complex launch and support systems that play a vital role in national defense. The position includes paid overtime, a 9x80 schedule (every other Friday off), and relocation support for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
• Prepare 2D CAD Intelligent Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) from sketches, marked-up prints, and engineering notes.
• Review drawings and documents prepared by others to ensure compliance with drafting standards, project procedures, discipline requirements, and national codes.
• Maintain data integrity for component lists to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability across project databases.
• Meet project schedule requirements while delivering high-quality, detailed design work.
• Collaborate with engineers and project team members to resolve design issues and improve workflow processes.
• Apply industry best practices and company standards in all design deliverables.
Qualifications
• U.S. Citizenship (required due to facility security requirements).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
• Valid, Real ID-compliant driver’s license or state-issued ID.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening (including marijuana testing).
• High School diploma or equivalent with 6 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) with 2 years of experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with design/drafting tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, PDS2D, PDS3D, or SmartPlant P&ID.
• Experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented design environment.
• Familiarity with component databases and configuration management.
• Knowledge of industry standards for mechanical drafting and instrumentation design.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience supporting government or defense-related projects.
• Knowledge of DoD or USAF design standards.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality deliverables.
• Ability to adapt to evolving project needs and engineering requirements.
Pay
$95,000–$125,000 per year
