Senior Electrical Engineer | Ogden, UT
Nexeo HR is assisting with a direct-hire placement for Senior Electrical Engineers supporting large-scale facility and underground infrastructure projects in Ogden, Utah. This role focuses on complex facility electrical design, including power generation and distribution, grounding, lightning protection, and power system analysis using ETAP, AutoCAD, and SmartPlant 3D.
This position offers a 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off), paid overtime, and relocation assistance.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual and detailed electrical designs, drawings, and specifications
- Create single-line diagrams, panel schedules, schematics, cable block diagrams, grounding, lightning protection, and cathodic protection drawings using AutoCAD
- Perform electrical calculations and power system studies using ETAP, including:
- Load flow
- Short circuit
- Motor starting
- Relay coordination
- Arc flash
- Ground grid sizing
- Cable thermal de-rating
- Perform lighting layouts using AGI32
- Size and specify transformers, panelboards, UPS systems, surge protection devices, breakers, and cables in accordance with NEC (NFPA 70)
- Develop equipment and material specifications using SpecsIntact
- Review vendor submittals and integrate approved data into design packages
- Coordinate designs with systems, structural, mechanical, and civil teams in a BIM / 3D model environment
- Prepare scopes of work, estimates, schedules, and procurement support documentation
- Mentor junior engineers and review deliverables for quality and code compliance
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 6 years of electrical engineering experience in facility design
- Strong knowledge of NEC, NEMA, ANSI, and IEEE standards
- Experience performing electrical studies and modeling using ETAP
- Experience creating full electrical design packages (not maintenance or operations)
- Hands-on experience with:
- Power distribution systems
- Grounding and lightning protection
- Equipment and cable sizing
- Background supporting large, complex facilities such as:
- Data centers
- Utility plants
- Hospitals
- Industrial or large infrastructure facilities
- Real ID–compliant driver’s license
Highly Desired
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience using SmartPlant 3D
- Familiarity with facility electrical design guides and industry best practices
- ISO-9000 quality program experience
- Experience developing CSI MasterFormat specifications or using SpecsIntact
Pay
$135,000 – $180,000 annually
