POSITION: Special Education Teacher (1.0)
SCHOOL: Newtown Preschool
LOCATION: Reed Intermediate School
START DATE: August 24, 2026
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide direct, systematic instruction in academic, social-emotional, communication, behavioral, and
adaptive skill areas.
Design differentiated lessons aligned to IEP goals and the Connecticut Early Learning and
Development Standards.
Serve as case manager for assigned students, ensuring compliance with all special education timelines
and documentation requirements.
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Collaborate with related service providers, preschool staff, and families.
Supervise and collaborate with paraprofessionals to ensure effective implementation of student goals.
Prepare comprehensive reports and present findings during Planning and Placement Team (PPT)
meetings.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district special education regulations and timelines.
REMUNERATION: Based on Teacher contract
QUALIFICATIONS: Connecticut Certification as a Special Education Teacher
