Head Teacher — Montessori Early Childhood Program

About Us

Newton Montessori is a licensed, family-owned Montessori school and childcare center, now opening our

newest location in Edison. We blend authentic Montessori methodology with a proprietary early-literacy

curriculum developed to support development principles of the modern world, supported by a robust

home-grown curriculum development technology, CACFP food program, parent partnership, and a hands-on

Science & Engineering program. This is a rare opportunity to be the founding Head Teacher of a brand-new

center — shaping classrooms, culture, and program quality from day one.

What You'll Do

• Lead the development and implementation of the center's child development and activities program for children from 2.5 to 13 years old, ensuring activities suit each child's age and developmental level (per N.J.A.C. 3A:52-4.5)
• Mentor and coach group teachers and assistant teachers; model Montessori practice in the classroom
• Partner with the Director on curriculum development & delivery, including our early-reading program
• Maintain a prepared Montessori environment: materials, work cycles, observation records
• Responsible for the tracking & documentation of children's progress on a daily basis using our proprietary home-grown curriculum development & tracking application
• Oversee and ensure daily documentation and communication of cognitive & physical developmental and care activities with families through our parent app
• Uphold all NJ licensing standards (N.J.A.C. 3A:52), CACFP meal documentation, and mandated reporter obligations

What You Bring

• Must meet one of the New Jersey head teacher qualification pathways under N.J.A.C. 3A:52-4.6(c) — for example, a degree in early childhood education or a related field combined with the required ECEcoursework and documented full-time experience in a group program for children under six. We can also pursue Office of Licensing conditional approval (valid up to two years) for a candidate with the required educational credentials who is completing remaining credits or experience.
• Montessori credential (AMS, AMI, or MACTE-accredited) strongly preferred; strong candidates pursuing certification considered
• Current or willingness to obtain: CARI and CHRI background clearances, mandated reporter training, First Aid/CPR
• Warm, calm classroom presence and genuine respect for children's independence Ability to present a stimulating and challenging work environment that respects and develops student's cognitive abilities

Nice to Have

• Experience opening or growing a new classroom or center
• CDA credential holders with substantial experience are encouraged to apply — multiple qualification pathways exist
• Bilingual speaker proficient in English and Spanish

Pay: $52,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
