Overview
Newsom Eye is seeking a strategic, relationship‑driven VP of Surgical Solutions to lead the clinical, regulatory, and strategic performance of our ambulatory surgery centers. This executive role partners closely with physicians, anesthesia leadership, and the VP of Operations to drive surgical growth, ensure regulatory excellence, and deliver best‑in‑class patient outcomes.
The VP of Surgical Solutions oversees ASC strategy, accreditation readiness, physician engagement, OR efficiency, and high‑level operational leadership — ensuring Newsom Eye’s surgical services remain safe, compliant, efficient, and positioned for continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Physician Partnerships
- Drive top‑line surgical growth through increased case volume, service line expansion, and physician recruitment.
- Build strong, trust‑based relationships with surgeons to support governance, engagement, and throughput optimization.
- Partner with the VP of Operations and executive leadership on strategic planning, OR efficiency, productivity targets, and workflow redesign.
- Lead initiatives that strengthen ASC visibility, referral patterns, and market competitiveness.
Regulatory & Accreditation Leadership
- Serve as the executive lead for JCAHO, AHCA, AAAHC, CLIA, DEA, and all regulatory bodies.
- Conduct onsite survey preparation, lead inspections, and manage corrective action plans.
- Ensure continuous compliance through policy enforcement, documentation oversight, and proactive readiness rounding.
- Oversee credentialing and re‑credentialing for physicians, CRNAs, and professional staff.
Operational & Clinical Leadership
- Provide executive oversight of ASC operations, ensuring seamless coordination between clinical teams, anesthesia, and support services.
- Develop staffing models, competency standards, and training programs in collaboration with Nurse Managers.
- Lead ASC orientation, compliance training, and emergency preparedness (fire drills, disaster drills, code blue, sterile procedure, generator, pharmacy, biomedical).
- Maintain departmental Quality Improvement Plans and interdisciplinary performance improvement programs.
Financial & Business Management
- Own ASC financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L accountability.
- Review financial reports and identify cost‑effective alternatives for supplies, staffing, and service agreements.
- Oversee procurement and inventory management of surgical supplies, implants, instruments, and equipment.
- Partner with Revenue Cycle leadership to ensure effective billing, collections, appeals, and accounts payable management.
People Leadership & Staff Development
- Lead hiring, evaluation, coaching, and performance management for ASC leadership and staff.
- Build leadership capability among facility managers through mentoring and development.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and patient‑centered care.
- Provide regular communication and feedback to staff and executive leadership.
QualificationsRequired Education
- Bachelor’s degree, BSN, or RN preferred; MBA strongly preferred.
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years ASC experience.
- Minimum 4 years progressive management/supervisory experience.
- Experience leading accreditation surveys (JCAHO, AHCA, AAAHC) highly valued.
- Experience expanding surgical service lines or building OR sites preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Deep knowledge of ASC operations, nursing practice, and surgical workflows.
- Strong understanding of AAAHC, AHCA, CLIA, DEA, JCAHO, and related regulatory standards.
- Proven financial acumen and P&L management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
