POSITION: Billing Specialist II
DEPARTMENT: Billing
REPORTS TO: Billing Supervisor
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for accurately verifying insurances, patient payments, posting insurance EOBs, printing patient statements, verifying balances and credits on patient accounts, and working accounts receivable.
Education and Experience:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Insurance experience preferred.
3. Work minimum of one year in medical office or attend one year of insurance billing school.

8. Understanding of Nextech, including unapplied money.
9. Reading and understanding EOBs.
10. Ability to pass drug test.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Any and all duties assigned by management with an emphasis on the following:
1. Daily
a. Submit UHC claims to UHC online.
b. Call Medicare and get pending claims.
c. Post Medicare and commercial insurance payments.
d. Work denials; send reviews/appeals/Q2 appeals as necessary.
e. Answer patient and staff billing questions.
f. Fill out refund/write-off requests.
g. Check daily superbills.
h. Transmit electronic and submit paper claims.
i. Work on collecting accounts receivable/patient delinquency using Excel grid and beginning with the highest and oldest balance due, working down to the lowest and newest balance due.
j. Support/assist other billing specialists with excess work as needed.
2. Weekly
a. Go thru pending write-off and refund request folder: check accounts, if cleared, prepare & submit for approval.
b. Download and print UHC Electronic remits and EOBs and post them for NELC.
c. Check surgery schedule for any money due on surgery patients for NELC including upgraded lenses.
