Avvio is looking for a Host to join the team.
Our approachable, yet traditional menu features classic Italian dishes, pizzas, and wood-fire grilled entrees that use ingredients sourced locally and directly from Italy. Located in the heart of Garden City Center, this restaurant is a favorite among the locals! Avvio is proud to be part of the Newport Restaurant Group!
About the Position: In the Host role, you will coordinate seating of guests to provide fast and courteous service.
About You: You are friendly, outgoing, and driven to succeed. You have a strong passion for hospitality and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, team environment.
Essential Duties:
- Schedules dining reservations and arranges parties or special services for diners
- Greets guests, escorts them to tables, and provides menus
- Answers phone
- Communicates guests’ needs to service staff and management.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Must have flexible schedule to work during days, nights, weekends, and some holidays as needed – must be available to work lunch shifts Monday-Friday!
- Restaurant and OpenTable experience are preferred however, we are willing to train the right candidate.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Problem-solving skills
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift and move 25-50 pounds
- Be collaborative, using a team approach to creating an equitable workplace environment and have respectful working relationships
