Job Overview
Newport Polo is hiring an EMT to provide on-site first aid and medical response during Saturday matches of the Newport International Polo Series. The EMT is stationed at the venue throughout the event, ready to respond to guest, staff, and player medical needs, and coordinates with the on-site police detail for any situations requiring additional support.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site first aid and emergency medical response to guests, staff, and players throughout the event
- Assess medical situations and determine the appropriate level of care
- Coordinate with the on-site police detail on any incidents requiring joint response
- Contact and coordinate with outside first responders (ambulance, fire, police) when higher-level care or transport is needed, and direct them to the incident location
- Maintain and restock first aid supplies and medical equipment throughout the shift
- Monitor the venue for potential safety concerns and respond proactively
- Document all medical incidents and treatments in a daily report
- Communicate clearly with the management team about any ongoing medical situations
Qualifications
- Current EMT certification valid in the State of Rhode Island required
- Current CPR and first aid certifications required
- Prior experience providing first aid or emergency medical response, preferably in a live event or outdoor setting
- Able to maintain calm composure in all situations and make sound decisions under pressure
- Excellent observation and communication skills
- Professional disposition when interacting with patrons, staff, and authorities
- Physical fitness to carry out responsibilities in a large outdoor venue, including extended periods of walking and standing in variable weather
- Able to lift and carry medical equipment and assist with patient movement as needed
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be available every Saturday, June through September
Schedule
Every Saturday from June through September. Shifts run 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM in June, July, and August, and 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM in September. This is a seasonal, part-time, weekends-only position.
