About the Role:
Job Title: Senior Accountant
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This role will play a key part in daily accounting operations and month-end close activities, with a strong focus on cash transaction accounting, cash and balance sheet reconciliations, and close support. The ideal candidate is hands-on, deadline-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. This role will report to the Director of Accounting based in Katy, TX.
Essential Job Functions:
- Account for daily cash transactions, including bank activity, wires, ACH, intercompany cash movements and ABL (asset-backed loans) transactions
- Perform timely and accurate bank and cash account reconciliations
- Prepare a wide range of balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring completeness and accuracy
- Identify, research, and resolve intercompany variances, including cash, AR/AP, and other intercompany balances
- Coordinate with internal accounting teams to investigate intercompany differences and ensure timely resolution
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items and other account variances
- Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account analysis
- Assist with maintaining accounting schedules and supporting documentation
- Partner with AP, AR, Treasury, and other finance teams to ensure accurate cash reporting
- Support internal and external audit requests related to cash and balance sheet accounts
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies
- Perform other accounting duties and ad hoc projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, NetSuite).
- Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation schedules)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of accounting experience, ideally with a multinational company.
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or MBA.
- CPA certification or progress toward CPA is a plus.
- Public accounting or audit background is a plus.
- Experience with cash accounting/treasury operations and account reconciliations
