Salary Range: $100-125k
Under the direction of the Vice President of Nutritional Services, the Regional Dietitian is responsible for the oversight and evaluation of the implementation of the facility’s resident care policies and procedures affecting the quality of resident care outcomes, identifying regulatory noncompliance, and ethical business conduct. Raise the quality and standard of nutritional service in the facilities serviced.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S or advanced degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition.
- Completion of internship or equivalent experience to qualify for registration by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Registered Dietitian with current Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics membership.
- Minimum of five years of experience as a Registered Dietitian with demonstrated positions of increased responsibility.
- Current Dietetics licensure in the state she/he is responsible.
- Ability to generate enthusiasm and cooperation from others.
- Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
- A genuine interest in and respect for people and desire to be of service to them.
- Ability to accept and work with persons with different social and cultural traits.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and capability to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
- Knowledge of Federal and State regulations, including, but not limited to FDA and USDA Food Code.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Visits facilities on a regular basis at least once bimonthly, to ensure systems are in place and to monitor sustainability to ensure appropriate care is provided to all residents.
- Conduct entrance and exit conference preferably with both administrator and Dietary Manager involving facility site visit.
- Establish rapport with residents, facility staff and administrative personnel of the facility and Rockport Healthcare Services associates.
- Make rounds and identify Food Safety and Sanitation, Clinical Nutritional practice,
Environmental and regulatory violations
- Review Dining Programs for appropriate and appealing environment, Dining Services and Customer Service.
- Ensure appropriate menu alternates are offered and snacks provided.
- Provide education to address resident and regulatory noncompliance.
- Review food, supplies and supplement purchasing on a regular basis to assure that purchasing practices provide suitable quality and reasonable pricing.
- Ensure spend downs are in place and being utilized by all facilities.
- Assure that the dietary department functions as a member of the health care team.
- Assure that all diet orders as written by the physician are within facility guidelines and provided as ordered.
- Assure that residents with nutritional problems are identified and monitored by the facility Registered Dietitian.
- Assure that food served is safe, nutritious and palatable.
- Assure that Administrators and corporate staff are kept fully informed of the facility and the dietary department’s strengths and problem areas in meeting nutritional needs.
- Present written reports at the conclusion of each visit to the facility's Administrator, Director of Nursing, Dietary Supervisor, Registered Dietitian, Vice President of Operations, QA Nurse and Vice President of Nutritional Services (see Regional Dietitian's Facility Visit Report and Dietary Quality Control Review Report).
- Discuss the report and recommendations with the Administrator, the Director of Nursing, and the Nutritional Services Supervisor and to promote actions that support the health and well-being of the residents.
- Help facility to develop QAPI/In-services as necessary.
