Responsibilities
- Manage patient appointment scheduling efficiently across multiple EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and others, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and conduct insurance verification processes to facilitate seamless patient visits.
- Communicate clearly with patients via phone and in person, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
- Review and update medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Assist with intake procedures, including gathering medical history, updating care plans, and explaining clinic policies to patients in both English and Spanish.
- Support front desk operations by handling multi-line phone systems, filing medical records, and performing clerical tasks such as data entry using Microsoft Office tools.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate appointment schedules, follow up on missed appointments, and manage documentation review for accuracy.
- Maintain knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, medical terminology, and Medicare guidelines to support accurate documentation and billing processes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical scheduling, front desk support, or medical office management within a healthcare setting.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required; strong communication skills in both languages are essential.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), insurance verification procedures, and health information management practices.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office equipment such as multi-line phones and fax machines.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and accurate data entry.
