JOB SUMMARY:
Oversee summer school operations by training and supporting staff in Fuel Education courses, monitoring student progress, managing course records, and providing technical assistance. Maintain classroom discipline, communicate with parents and school staff, and support students directly as needed.
Experience: Knowledge of Edgenuity curriculum/program and understanding of past high school summer school programs. Two years of successful experience using the Fuel Education program.
Education: Completion of a higher education Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in education/teaching.
Certification Required: A valid teaching license issued by the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission with proper endorsements for grades K-12.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Train, manage and support summer school staff in Fuel Education courses.
- Assess student progress utilizing the Fuel Education platform and load new courses and requirements into the student profile.
- Supervise educational assistants.
- Maintain classroom discipline and communicate with parents when needed.
- Provide rosters for attendance and a course list to summer school staff as they work with students.
- Provide technical support and training to staff and families as issues arise.
- Communicate with counselors and registrar as courses are completed and ready for transcription.
- Fill in for direct staff to work with students, as needed.
- Interview, recommend for hire, and supervise high summer school staff
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Language Skills:
Ability to read English and comprehend complex technical language. Ability to write memoranda, correspondence, lessons plans, reports, and student achievement summaries in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed, but basic, written or oral instructions in English. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents and community.

The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Able to use a telephone, operate a computer, and use other office equipment. Able to drive to other program sites and meetings.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Summer School June 16, 2026 - June 30, 2026.
CLASSIFICATION/LOCATION:
Licensed, Temporary position, at Newberg High School.
CALENDAR/BENEFITS:
7 hours per day, when school is in session.
Paid by timesheet at the Per Diem Rate.
