Job Summary
The Special Education ESN Teacher provides specialized instruction and support to students with moderate to severe disabilities, including those with autism, intellectual disabilities, and multiple disabilities. This position focuses on developing functional academics, communication, social-emotional skills, and independence to support students in accessing their educational environment and preparing for post-secondary outcomes. The ESN Teacher designs and implements individualized education programs (IEPs), collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, and utilizes evidence-based instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs. Responsibilities include managing a structured classroom environment, supervising paraprofessionals, collecting and analyzing student data, and maintaining compliance with state and federal special education laws. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong behavior management skills, experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, and a commitment to inclusive practices. Collaboration with general education staff, service providers, and families is essential to ensure student success across settings.
