Job Summary
The Special Education Teacher – Mild to Moderate Support Needs provides specialized academic instruction and support to students with disabilities who access the general education curriculum with accommodations and targeted interventions. This includes students with learning disabilities, attention-related needs, and mild to moderate social-emotional or behavioral challenges. The teacher develops, implements, and monitors Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring goals are aligned to grade-level standards while addressing each student’s unique needs. Instruction focuses on building foundational academic skills, executive functioning, and self-advocacy to support student success in inclusive settings. Key responsibilities include collaboration with general education teachers, related service providers, and families; delivering small group and individualized instruction; progress monitoring and data collection; and ensuring compliance with state and federal special education requirements. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong instructional practices, effective collaboration skills, and the ability to differentiate curriculum. Experience with inclusive practices, co-teaching models, and positive behavior supports is highly valued.
