Constituent Liaison for Community Affairs
Position Overview:
New York Senate District 6 is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and community-oriented Constituent Liaison for Community Affairs to join her District Office team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping others, strengthening community connections, and advancing equity and access across Long Island. The Constituent Liaison will serve as a direct link between the Senator and her constituents providing hands-on support, managing casework, and representing the Senator at community events and meetings.
Key Responsibilities:- Serve as a first point of contact for constituents seeking help with state or local matters such as housing, healthcare, education, disability services, and social services.
- Manage constituent casework from intake through resolution using office tracking systems, ensuring timely and professional responses.
- Represent the Senator at community events, town halls, neighborhood meetings, and public forums sometimes during evenings or weekends.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local community organizations, civic associations, advocacy groups, faith leaders, and neighborhood coalitions.
- Prepare community reports, updates, and correspondence for internal briefings and public distribution.
- Collaborate closely with the legislative and communications teams to relay community concerns, track local trends, and support district initiatives.
Preferred candidates will have:
- A background in social work, public policy, community organizing, or government service.
- Strong knowledge of Long Island communities, including issues related to housing, healthcare, small business, and transportation.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced, people-centered environment.
- Schedule will include some evenings and weekends to support events and community engagement efforts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with case management systems.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities (Spanish, Haitian Creole, etc.) are a plus but not required.
$40,000 - $45,000 / year
