The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified Research Support Assistant II for a short-term position, to investigate neural activity and serotonin biosensor signals obtained from brain tissue in pre-clinical models of stress and fear generalization
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include:
- Preprocessing and normalization of simultaneous neural activity and serotonin signals.
- Implementing and validating three computational analyses: multivariate Hidden Markov Models, Representational Similarity Analysis, and linear decoding with permutation testing
- Extracting per-animal metrics for group-level statistical comparison.
- Generating publication-quality figures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Science and/or information technology
- At least (1) Year experience with Python and MATLAB
- At least (1) Year experience analyzing time series signals
- At least (1) Year experience with probabilistic classification models in NumPy, SciPy, and SciKit-learn
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least (1) Year experience with probabilistic modeling or dynamical systems.
- Familiarity with neuroscience or biosensor data.
- Prior exposure to HiddenMarkov Models or representational similarity analysis.
