Recruiting Rehabilitation Counselor for Central New York Psychiatric Center

Central New York Psychiatric Center (CNYPC) is recruiting a Rehabilitation Counselor 2 to provide rehabilitative services to individuals with mental illness at Green Haven Correctional Facility’s mental health satellite unit. Shift schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with Saturday and Sunday as pass days.
As a Rehabilitation Counselor 2, you will provide a full range of rehabilitative/habilitative services, including:
- Completing all assessment tools (screenings, core evaluations, parole evaluations) on incarcerated patients.
- Developing rehabilitation plans in conjunction with treating psychiatrist and other team members that fit individuals’ needs, educational level, physical abilities, and career goals
- Providing crisis intervention as needed
- Monitoring and recording individuals' progress to ensure that goals and objectives are met
- Providing psychosocial services, which include social and leisure activities within the satellite unit.
- Developing discharge plans that meet the clinical needs of the incarcerated patients
About CNYPC:
CNYPC provides a full range of care and treatment to individuals incarcerated in the state and county correctional systems at their secure forensic inpatient hospital in Marcy, NY and at a network of corrections based mental health units for incarcerated individuals in the custody of the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) in Cayuga, Clinton, Chemung, Dutchess, Erie, Oneida, Orleans, Seneca, Westchester, and Wyoming counties.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a human service field and three years of professional experience providing vocational, psychosocial, or rehabilitative/habilitative services in an agency primarily serving individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities, mental illness, or addictions.
- Substitution: Master's degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience.
