Accounts Receivable Specialist
Location: Albany, NY | Full-Time | $18.50- $20.50/hr.
Summary: The Accounts Receivable Specialist responsibilities include the preparation of customer invoices, reviewing monthly member statements, and collecting receivables as necessary.
Essential Duties:
- Verify and review Member Agency and customer invoices, and correct discrepancies by contacting the customer or the Member Agency. Verify contract terms and rates on billing sheets for services.
- Produce and process customer invoices.
- Enter accurate sales/accounts receivable transactions in the accounting system.
- Prepare and post accounts receivable transactions.
- Review contract status utilizing both NYSID’s contract department staff and the contract database.
- Review and resolve customer inquiries and discrepancies.
- Review monthly member statements and resolve discrepancies
- Review customers’ accounts for payment status and follow up on collection of payment.
- Utilize and maintain assigned members and corporate partners in NYSID’s Suralink portal for invoice submission.
- If applicable, verify Purchase Order is current and monitor its balance.
- Prepare daily bank deposits and apply and post payments to customers’ accounts.
- Review short payments and unapplied payments.
- Process manual credit card transactions and apply payment to customers account.
- Serve as backup on reconciling monthly bank statements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Travel as required.
Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or GED, an Associate's Degree preferred.
- Courses in bookkeeping, accounting, and computers.
- Minimum 1- 3 years’ experience in a bookkeeping or accounting function preferred.
- Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proven problem-solving and mathematical ability.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced, high volume work environment.
- Proficiency with various computer software applications including computerized accounting systems (NetSuite preferred), databases, spreadsheets and word processing (preferably Microsoft Office Suite).

The nature of the job requires considerable keyboard and mouse usage, walking around facilities, and sitting for long periods of time. Must have visual acuity and hearing ability for communicating with others and gathering and accessing written and computerized information.
