This position is one of two managerial roles within the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Access (ODEIA). Reporting directly to the Deputy Diversity Officer, this role actively supports the overall strategic vision set by the Chief Diversity Officer. The Manager will serve as the first-level supervisor for Equal Opportunity Specialists 2 and the second-level supervisor for Equal Opportunity Specialists 1. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and executing specific ODEIA programming and initiatives, contributing to measurable goals, and ensuring their successful implementation and alignment with the agency's overarching objectives. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Minimum Qualifications

Non-competitive: Eight years of experience* in equal opportunity, diversity and
inclusion, or human rights. At least one year of the experience must have been at a supervisory
level;
OR
One year of State service in an equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion,
minority business, employment compliance, human resources, or training position
allocated at or above Grade 23.
Qualifying experience includes working with organizations concerned with equal
opportunity, diversity and inclusion, civil rights, minority business development, or similar programs; or in recruiting, training, and upgrading the educational and job qualifications of protected class members.
Substitutions: associate’s degree may substitute for two years of the non-supervisory experience; bachelor’s degree for four years; and J.D. or master’s degree for five years.
Your degree must have been awarded by an educational institution accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States (U.S.) Department of Education/Secretary of Education. If awarded by an institution outside of the U.S. and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. - Provide direct supervision and guidance to a team of professional staff, including Equal Opportunity Specialist 2 and 1.
- Evaluate staff performance, identify training needs, and provide ongoing coaching and professional development opportunities to ensure staff meet performance standards.
- Interpret and communicate rules, regulations, and policies to staff, ensuring compliance and providing support in resolving operational issues.
- Assist with hiring and onboarding new team members.
- Monitor work schedules, projects, and other assigned duties.
- Train staff and provides periodic retraining as programs or mandates governing them change.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and management of innovative equity and inclusion initiatives, monitoring program outcomes and ensuring alignment with overall agency goals.
- Provide strategic oversight for the Department's language access initiatives
- Develop job aids, training materials, and other documents to support initiatives and operational processes.
- Develop and implement training programs and resources for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical assistance on implementing new or revised processes and initiatives.
- Plan and manage projects related to ODEIA administration and support the Chief Diversity Officer as necessary.
- Act as liaison between units and other departments to promote a uniform equity and inclusion strategy.
- Review work, reports, and assist staff in resolving problems and developing alternative actions or solutions to operational issues.
- Collaborate with organizational leaders to enhance initiatives, ensuring best practices are integrated throughout the organization.
- Promote initiatives that foster an equitable, inclusive, and accessible environment across the agency.
- May perform duties of lower-level staff as needed.
