Required Experience:
- Strong proficiency in English composition, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and oral communication.
- Ability to listen to complex medical information and summarize it clearly, completely, and concisely.
- Understanding medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment protocols.
- Ability to interpret and expand medical abbreviations appropriately.
- Strong reasoning and analytical skills, with the ability to apply logic, use reference materials, and problem-solve independently.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and internet research.
- Ability to learn and use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and transcription systems efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to type quickly and accurately.
- Must adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Familiarity with cosmetic and reconstructive procedures preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism in all interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately and thoroughly document all components of medical visits and procedures as performed by the physician.
- Record patient medical history, physical examinations, procedures, treatments, and education provided by healthcare professionals.
- Document physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions, and follow-up instructions.
- Prepare referral letters and operative reports as directed by the physician.
- Perform clerical tasks including faxing, phone calls, and coordination of referrals as assigned.
- Identify and correct inconsistencies or errors in medical documentation; ensure all addenda are reviewed and signed by the physician.
- Record all clinical data, test results, and physician interpretations accurately in the medical record.
- Alert the physician when charts or documentation are incomplete.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA standards and confidentiality of all patient information.
- Attend required training sessions related to IT systems, HIPAA, billing, coding, and compliance.
- Proofread and edit all physician documentation for accuracy, spelling, grammar, and formatting.
- Quickly learn and adapt to new processes, technologies, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling and workflow demands as needed.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- College coursework or degree in a healthcare or science-related field preferred.
- Completion of a medical scribe training program preferred.
Location: Brooklyn (on-site)
Compensation: $17.00-$18.00
