Responsibilities
The Payroll Section is responsible for processing payroll for all civilian and uniformed members of service for the NYPD. The Payroll Section is seeking an Accountant Level I who will perform professional accounting work and will be responsible for the following:
Uniform and Civilian Payments for last days worked before Permanent Leave including retirements, resignations, transfers, dismissals and deceased.
Uniform and Civilian Payments for last days worked before Temporary Leave including childcare, sick leaves, FMLA leave, military, and suspension.
Process payments as Supplemental Checks when necessary.
Mid-week pay adjustments for Civilian MOS including new or provisional appointments, reassignments and reinstatements.
Mid-week salary changes pay adjustment for Civilian MOS including promotions, upgrades, maturations, title changes, demotions and salary adjustments.
Review and adjust City Time records for Civilian MOS transitioning to or from Workers' Compensation leave.
Researches and prints reports from PMS, RMDS, PI, City Time and CHRMS for all assigned duties.
Process Anticipatory week request through City Time.

Minimum Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in accounting, including one course each in advanced accounting and auditing; or
- A valid New York State Certified Public Accountant license.
Preferred Skills
Must be very detail oriented and proficient in data entry. Preferred computer applications: City Time, PMS (Payroll Management System), CHRMS (City Human Resources Management System), PI (Payroll Information), MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access.
