What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Social Worker / School Psychologist position at New York Center for Child Development?
New York Center for Child Development is seeking a full-time Social Worker or School Psychologist to join our self-contained preschool special education program. This role provides relationship-based mental health services through family/caregiver coaching, classroom consultation, family support services, and play therapy as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide mental health services to preschool children and their families.
- Conduct family/caregiver coaching and classroom consultations.
- Offer family support services and play-based therapeutic interventions.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications:
Required Licensure/Certification (one of the following):
- New York State LMSW or LCSW and NYS School Social Worker Certification (Provisional or Permanent)
- New York State Licensed Clinical Psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.)
- New York State School Psychologist Certification (Provisional or Permanent)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with children from birth to age five, preferably in a CPSE program
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and family-centered practices
