JOB SUMMARY
The primary role of the Service Manager is to oversee all shop operations in the Chittenango facilities including the Tech shop, Main shop and Paint shop. Responsible for monitoring all scheduled repair work and service records on assigned vehicles, holding teams accountable to following all safety procedures, ensuring customer satisfaction and facilitating staff development.
SUPERVISION
The Service Manager establishes procedures, within the limits established by guidelines, attaining specific goals and objectives in a broad area of work for multiple locations. Only the final results of work done are typically reviewed.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Hire, train, motivate, counsel and monitor the performance of assigned staff according to company policies and ensure relevant HR procedures are followed (appraisals, discipline, etc.).
- Monitor and assist in planning, scheduling and forecasting work.
- Manage costs, overhead, and all factors affecting the profitable performance of the shop.
- Manage upkeep and condition of all equipment and fixtures on shop premises.
- ·Work with the Parts Managers to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for internal jobs.
- · Partner with HR in managing hours worked and maintaining compliance with labor laws.
- · Hold supervisors accountable to ensure accuracy in timecards and adjust schedules to meet business needs.
- · Foster a positive and engaged work culture at all locations.
- · Handle customer complaints immediately and according to dealership guidelines.
- · Ensure assigned staff adheres to all company policies and procedures including safety requirements.
- · Understand and keep abreast of and comply with federal, state and local regulations that may affect shop operations.
OTHER DUTIES
· Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION / REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
- · Minimum of 3 years experience in a shop environment.
- NYS CDL, Class B driver license with Passenger Transport and Air Brake endorsements required.

- Demonstrate the ability to accomplish multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

- Ability to read and comprehend technical safety manuals, dealer issued guidelines and any other related correspondence such as DOT rules, etc.
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with company procedures and policies.
- Ability to compute mathematical equations which may be necessary to write reports such as work orders.
- Speech and Hearing sufficient for regular in person and telephone communication with all employees, vendors and customers.
- Manual and finger dexterity sufficient for frequent use of a keyboard and mouse for maintaining company correspondence.
- Frequently lift up to 10 lbs. when moving desk items and daily required supplies.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally when assisting in bus repairs.
- Lift up to 100lbs with assistance occasionally when inspecting buses or when assisting in bus repairs.
- Occasionally bend, push pull, climb, balance crouch, kneel and reach sufficient to reach all areas of the vehicle and/or shops and properly demonstrate, inspect or assist with a bus repair.
- Ability to compute mathematical equations sufficiently for completing company documents such as work orders and completing measurements required by DOT.
Ability to drive a vehicle on company-related business such as for travel to/from other facilities, seminars, conferences and medical facilities
Salary : $70,000 - $75,000
