What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Leader position at New West Haven?
We are looking for a fun loving and enthusiastic Activity Leader who is passionate about socializing and working with members of our senior community. Our Activity Leader will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, will design and implement all Adult Day Care activities and field trips, will have full time responsibility for organizing, conducting, and evaluating planned activities, have demonstrable experience in conducting group activities, evaluating resident needs, supervising support staff, and training volunteers. Duties include:
¨ Developing and maintaining a written plan of activities.
¨ Overseeing and supervising staff involved in activities.
¨ Collaborating with residents and resident’s family members to assure that activities foster and maintain each resident’s: independent functioning, strength, coordination, and range of motion.
¨ Encouraging residents to participate in the planning, preparation, conduct, cleanup, and critique of planned activities.
¨ Arranging for the utilization of community resources through contact with organizations and volunteers to promote resident participation in community centered activities.
¨ Shift: M-F 8AM – 5PM, or as needed based on activities calendar and resident’s needs.
¨ Must enjoy working with pets.
¨ Be profession with MS Office.
¨ Other duties as necessary.
¨ Min. 2 years of related experience.
¨ CA state regulations require that all staff be: at least 18 years old, First Aid/CPR certified, in good health (as evidenced by medical exam), free of TB, and fingerprint cleared. Clean DMV record required.
