Background:
The Operator Lead is responsible for providing hands-on guidance, support, and training to team
members on the production line. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of all production lines,
Bills of Materials (BOMs), and product specifications. Operator Leads are expected to thoroughly
understand the functionality of the machines, including the ability to troubleshoot issues in real time to minimize downtime. In addition to leading machine operation activities, this position carries
overall responsibility for the efficient operation of the production line and will collaborate closely
with the maintenance team when technical support is needed.
Work Environment: This role frequently involves exposure to dust, laundry detergent odors, and loud
noise levels.
Responsibilities:
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Train and support team members on the production line to ensure safe operating conditions, consistent product quality within specifications, and efficient output at optimal speeds.
• Help achieve or exceed productivity and delivery targets as defined in the production specifications.
• Promptly report any injuries or near misses to the supervisor and/or shift lead.
• Report any significant quality issues to the supervisor and/or shift lead for immediate resolution.
• Collaborate with the shift lead to adjust labor allocation as needed based on production demands.
• Troubleshoot machine issues; if problems cannot be resolved, escalate promptly to the maintenance team.
• Oversee and support the line changeover process to ensure timely and accurate transitions.
• Operate a production line as needed to support daily operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support team and departmental objectives.
Requirements & Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Must have working knowledge of machinery and production equipment.
• Strong oral communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead a team and train others effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work well within a team.
• Results-oriented with a proactive, driven work style.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, especially related to machinery and process troubleshooting.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to understand technical and mechanical tasks.
• Capable of identifying operational or maintenance issues and taking corrective action.
• Experience in performing quality control checks, maintaining accurate records, and reporting concerns to supervisors.
• Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Steel-toe boots are required.
