New Roots Healing Center is looking for a licensed mental health clinician (LCSW or LCPC) to join our multi-disciplinary group practice in Freeport, Maine. New Roots specializes in offering nutrition counseling, mental health therapy and psychiatric services for clients struggling in any area on the continuum of disordered eating. Our mental health clinician will support clients in uncovering the root of what may be contributing to the feeding struggles. Improving the relationship with mind and body is at the core of our practice. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Mental Health Clinician include:
- Conducting comprehensive mental health assessments, diagnosing disorders using DSM-5 criteria, and collaborating with clients to develop personalized treatment plans, implementing therapeutic interventions all while in accordance with ethical standards, best practices and weight-inclusive care.
- The candidate will offer individual, group, and/or family counseling sessions, utilizing evidence-based approaches, all through a trauma-informed lens.
- Responsibilities include monitoring and documenting client progress, maintaining accurate and confidential records, and coordinating care with a full multidisciplinary team such as PCP, registered dietitian and psychiatrist.
- The role involves engaging in crisis intervention, developing crisis management plans, and advocating for clients' mental health needs.
- Participate in weekly individual and/or group supervision
- Keep up to date with continuing education, specifically in the area of eating disorders
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, and be licensed (LCSW or LCPC) in the State of Maine. Candidates must be physically located in Maine.
Ideal candidates will possess strong therapeutic and assessment skills, excellent communication and active listening abilities, and the capacity to handle crisis situations with calm and professionalism. Maintaining consistent professional boundaries is essential to supporting sustainable engagement in therapeutic work.
It is required that the mental health clinician demonstrates understanding of, and sensitivity towards, issues of cultural diversity including, but not limited to: race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, gender expression, weight, and size.
Mental Health Clinician Experience:
- Preferred qualifications include a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in mental health counseling and experience with eating disorders.
- Knowledge and interest in working with ED and disordered eating clients.
- Experience working in an outpatient counseling setting.
Schedule:
Flexible schedule – Provider will create their own schedule while working to maintain a caseload of 15-25 weekly client hours. (Full caseload would be 25 clients per week).
Payment:
Compensation is paid on an hourly basis and rate is dependent upon level of experience.
Incentive bonuses are available.
