We are seeking a compassionate, reliable personal care worker to support young autistic child in their daily routine. This role focuses on providing attentive care, promoting independence, and creating a safe, structured, and positive environment throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with personal hygiene and grooming tasks
- Manage and remind about medication schedules
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary needs
- Provide emotional support and companionship
- Perform light housekeeping duties
- Maintain daily logs and provide verbal updates on client status
- Provide one-on-one support with daily routines
- Assist with emotional regulation and behavior support using calm, patient, and consistent approaches
- Engage the child in age-appropriate activities that support development, communication, and social skills
- Follow any established care plans, behavioral strategies, or therapy recommendations
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment at all times
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about the child’s day, progress, and any concerns
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children, preferably those with autism or developmental differences
- Patient, dependable, and attentive to individual needs
- Ability to follow routines and remain calm in challenging situations
- Strong communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if transportation is required)
- Must pass background check (as required in Wisconsin)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with autism support strategies (e.g., sensory support, visual schedules, positive reinforcement) (not required, on the job training is available)
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Previous personal care or caregiving experience with adults & children
Compensation:
- Hourly rate or flat rate $16-$25 hourly plus bonuses ; Instant pay after shift is completed
