The HVAC Project Engineer is responsible for scoping, planning, designing, and laying the groundwork to win and execute commercial HVAC projects. This role bridges engineering, project management, and field operations to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all codes, specifications, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Engineering-Assist in the design, selection, and specification of HVAC systems for commercial projects (office buildings, healthcare, industrial facilities, etc.)
- Review plans, specifications, and submittals to ensure accuracy, feasibility, and compliance with project requirements
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to align project objectives, specifications, and timelines.
- Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and system layout coordination as needed
- Monitor job progress and help resolve technical and logistical issues
- Support the Sales Manager and actively participate in bid and procurement processes including estimating and negotiations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 6 years of experience in commercial HVAC, mechanical contracting, or related industry
- Deep knowledge of HVAC systems (air distribution, hydronic systems, controls)
- Possess familiarity with design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam)
- Proficiency in construction management software such as Primavera P6, HeavyBid, ProCore, Bluebeam, or other construction bid and management tools.
