What are the responsibilities and job description for the Campus Security Officer - Evening Shift position at New Orleans Public Facility Mngt, Inc.?
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Respond to and protect the building from incidents of fire, medical emergency, theft, illegal entry, loitering and other suspicious acts in accordance with the policies and procedures set by the MCCNO.
Patrol assigned areas checking for safety hazards and document any irregularities found.
- Examine doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure and have not been tampered with.
- Ensure that all lights and equipment are turned off in areas that are not in operation.
- Warn violators of rule infractions, report infractions and escort persons engaging in suspicious and/or criminal behavior off the premises.
Report and log data on unusual occurrences such as property damage, injuries, theft, etc... and create detailed incident reports in a timely manner.
- Gather information by interviewing and obtaining statements from victims, witnesses and suspects.
- Prepare incident reports in a reasonable amount of time and free from errors.
Monitor entrances, exits, movement of people and vehicles and report any suspicious behavior immediately.
Observe and escort departing personnel off the premises to guard against possible safety hazards.
Attend and participate in all staff meetings and training sessions.
Other Qualifications
Must have reliable transportation.
Other Skills and Abilities
Work extended/irregular hours as necessary including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Professionally interact with diverse groups of people in high pressure situations.
Experience
Required- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- two to four years security, safety or law enforcement related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
