What are the responsibilities and job description for the Music Lot Gate Krewe position at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival?
TIME FRAME: This is a short term, seasonal position.
ALL EIGHT JAZZ FESTIVAL EVENT DAYS ARE REQUIRED
April 23 to April 26 & April 30 to May 3, 2026
POSITION SUMMARY: Located at the Mystery Street Entrance, the Music Lot Gate Crew represents the initial contact point for attendees and artists at the Festival. Therefore, it is essential for this individual to project a positive and friendly demeanor to create a favorable first impression.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- General responsibilities for all Musician Entrance Gate personnel include inspecting all vehicles entering the gate. Each car must display the correct gate car tag and undergo scrutiny to ensure the number of tickets matches the number of patrons in the vehicle. Gate Personnel are responsible for documenting all groups entering the grounds, enabling our Music Central operation to track group movements and identify any discrepancies promptly.
- Mystery Street also functions as a pedestrian crossing. It is imperative to safely guide pedestrians across Mystery Street towards the public Sauvage Entrance Gate.
- All Music Lot Entrance Gate personnel should be aware that they will be in the street among the vehicles, on their feet, and in the sun from 9am – 5:30pm most days. This crew should stay at the gate until the last scheduled group enters the grounds and/or picks up their packet.
- It is very important that all Music Lot Gate employees be polite, courteous, and keep a cool head.
- This can be a high pressure and high stress position at times.
