What are the responsibilities and job description for the Music Bus Lot - Bike Escort position at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival?
TIME FRAME: This is a short term, seasonal position.

April 23rd to 26th & April 30th to May 3rd, 2026
POSITION SUMMARY:
Based at the Gentilly/Horseman’s Entrance, the Bus Lot Gate crew are the first face that Jazz Fest participants and vendors see at the Fest – so the crew needs to be positive, friendly and leave a good first impression.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- This Bus Liaison will interface with all buses entering through the Gentilly entrance and escort by bicycle to the Bus Lot. The Bus Liaison will escort all bus entry and exits as well as park buses effectively in a temporary space to drop off/pick up participants.
- This position requires the use of a personal bicycle.
- This position will also assist the Gentilly Gate Crew with certain groups entering at the Horseman’s Entrance, as needed. General duties of all Bus Lot Entrance Gate personnel are to inspect all vehicles entering the gate. Each car needs to display the correct gate car tag and be checked to see if the number of tickets for the vehicle equals the number of patrons in the vehicle.
- The Gentilly Gate Manager will be the point person if any problem arises. Any conflicts that arise need to be immediately conveyed to the Gate Manager or the Packet Coordinator.
- All Bus Lot Entrance Gate personnel should be aware that they will be in the street among the vehicles, on their feet, and in all weather conditions from 9am – 5:30 pm most days. This crew should stay at the gate until the last scheduled group enters the festival grounds and/or pickup up their packet.
- It is very important that all Bus Lot Gate employees be polite, courteous, and keep a cool head. This can be a high pressure and high stress position at times.
- Confidentiality is of utmost importance. There are no autographs or picture taking with this job.
- This position is primarily outdoors; rain or shine.
